Second Breath

Drawing inspiration from the anatomy of frogs with throats that can expand, Second Breath creates an environment that explores extensions of the singer’s anatomy. Central to the piece is a transformative wearable instrument, which acts as an extension of the performer’s lung. This device shapes around the chest, capturing breath and transforming it into a second resonating chamber for sound and feedback. In this shared moment of vulnerability and sometimes full darkness, Second Breath becomes a meditation on the fragility and power of the human voice. It can be performed as a olo piece, but also  together with a vocal ensemble, where all singers wear their own Second Breath Instrument
